Fished the back of Middle River with Tim Burnum in his Nitro bass boat for yellow perch today. The water temperature was a mere 33 degrees but got up to 35 degrees. We were breaking skim ice on our way to the fishing hole. Only a few other intrepid anglers out there. Saw some nice fish get caught. Here's some of ours we were going to keep for the table. Instead, we decided to let them swim away after the photo shoot. All of the 50 or so perch were caught while drifting and jigging artificial, single hook lures. We fished about five hours. Fun day.
BTW, don't forget to participate in the DNR yellow perch survey. You might be randomly selected to win a Costa fishing cap like I did recently!
