Ice-out Bass and Red Ears

Type: Nontidal
Region: Central
Location: Mason Dixon Line

March 1st was a good day as I hit several public and one private venue along the Mason Dixon. Picked up a dozen gorgeous red ear sunfish from a 'new to me' public park pond that I will surely try again. Later went to a neighboring small lake and caught 19 largemouth bass on a gold Rapala Rattlin' Rap in muddy water. Top bass went from 17 to 19 inches, but these larger fish displayed lean body profiles that seem to indicate that they could possibly be large males. Water temperatures were at 48 in all three lakes, but will likely drop with the oncoming cold spell predicted. The 19 bass is a new personal best for a March day for me. Enjoy the pics...
