Youth Angler Reporting
Type: Nontidal
Region: Western
Location: Owens Creek
It’s been a cold winter with lots of snow, which has meant the fishing has been few and far between. But the weather was gorgeous yesterday (March 1) and Ryley just had to get out of the house. We decided to head over to Owens Creek as March 1st is the first day you can fish and keep the catch. We were there for a while using salmon eggs and powerbait with no luck. I decided to set Ryley up with a small jig head tipped with a pink rubber wacky worm. That did the trick, after a few casts he has this rainbow on the end of his line. As the days get longer and the weather gets warmer I know Ryley is going to want to go after even bigger fish… striper!
