For the last three days, the yellow perch fishing has been really good in the nontidal portions of the Mattawoman Creek. This morning, after three hours of fishing, our party of three caught fourteen yellow perch over 9 inches. The action has been nonstop with undersized perch. The keepers have been playing hard to get, but that seems to be improving. We have been catching mostly males, but there were a few females in the mix today.
In the past, I have always managed to miss the yellow perch run. I would hear from others "you should have been here a few days ago." Therefore, I am really excited to have been able to get in on the action this year!
