Panfish Parade Statewide

Type: Nontidal
Region: Eastern Shore
Location: Various lakes and spillways

During the record setting warm spell a week ago Mr Bob and I decided to make a run to the Eastern Shore to fish a number of tidal spillways and small public lakes. We totaled over 150 panfish, mostly bluegills. However, we ran into some 10 to 11 inch plus red ear sunfish at one of our locations. Outstanding fight and great table fare, red ears are overlooked at many state wide public venues.

We later returned home to the Mason Dixon area for some fast paced bluegill and pumpkinseed action, with our biggest bluegill measuring 10 3/4 inches. All fish were released. Caught them on 1/64th ounce jigs below bobbers with meal worms, grass shrimp and Crappie Nibbles as a tipping agent.
