Small public and private lakes all along the Mason Dixon region are coughing up big bluegills and bass on a variety of tactics. Bass are taking 1/4 ounce Rat-L-Traps or Mepps spinners in size 4. The bluegills are liking small hairjigs tipped with Gulp baits or meal worms below a bobber. Also in the mix are some natural hybrid species like the pumpkinseed sunfish X bluegill crosses that occur naturally in some of our local lakes. Here are a few from last week including a stunning pumpkingill hybrid that measured 10 7/8 inches.
