Yellow Perch ate a Lamprey
Type: Tidal
Region: Southern Region
Location: Patuxent River

I fished on the Upper Patuxent River in Upper Marlboro, MD on March 16. I caught a mixed bag of yellow perch and white perch. When cleaning an 12” yellow perch, I was surprised to see a 6” lamprey pop out of its mouth. I never knew that lampreys were part of the yellow perch diet. In all, I kept 3 yellow perch, released 7 and about 6 white perch in about 3 hours..
