Was fishing the upper Potomac River last week and got a nice surprise. The Musky was 43" long and weighed 22lbs on my digital Rapala scale. Girth was 20". The musky did have a tag and we attempted to record the number but it was taking too long to scrape off the algae to read it so we decided to just release it without recording the number. Angler that caught the Musky is Jeff Weaver with Michael Weaver and Kelly Fowler. We did manage to catch 8 walleye's as well. The picture of the walleye is with my son Michael. It was the largest of the evening and was 23". All fish were released to be caught another day!
DNR Response: The Muskie is a true muskie, not a hybrid (tiger) strain. The true muskies reproduce naturally in this stretch of the Potomac River, thank you for releasing the fish.
