On Saturday April 2nd while fishing with their fathers on a local impoundment, Kenny Ridings and Peter Congedo caught a bunch of nice largemouth bass on crank baits.
Peter is pictured wearing his GoPro camera. Peter caught most of the fish on this trip (6 bass out of 18) and recorded most of the action on video. One of the events that Peter managed to catch perfectly is just plain astounding. We were motoring slowly parallel to the shoreline and casting crank baits when I hooked a smallmouth bass. The hooked fish jumped and trashed about as I fought it to the boat. During the fight Peter and I saw a second smallmouth bass swimming alongside the hooked fish trying to take the crank bait. The second fish went so far as to follow the hooked fish into the air in an attempt to get the minnow shaped crank bait out of the first fishes mouth. While all this is going on Peter (thinking quickly) drags his plug near the action and hooks and lands a third fish we never saw, a largemouth bass. Somehow Peter (age 12) managed to capture all of this in HD and at 60fps on the camera. It all takes place in less than thirty seconds and is crystal clear and steady.
