Trolled the west side from Chesapeake Beach up to Deale. Boats were working the west side from the Radar Towers to north of Deale. Marked large fish off Deale in 35-40', but no bite. Saw one keeper noisily hauled aboard a charter boat. Midday ran down to Calvert Cliffs discharge. Jigged and released a 14" striper which bit on a 10" hotrodded chartreuse original Hogy Bait. Also unexpectedly jigged up and released a 16" American Shad - snagged near the mouth. Very pretty fish! Extended family member fishing on a charterboat off Smith Point, VA on Monday reported 7 post-spawn keepers, 6 of which were citation fish. In retrospect, I could have taken up an offer to join that trip, but had already committed to join my local fishing partner, and Chesapeake Beach is a whole lot closer than driving down to the Northern Neck!
