Youth Angler Reports from Charter Trip
Type: Chesapeake
Region: Mid Bay
Location: Bloody Point - Bay Bridge
I was fishing with my Dad, Grandfather and some friends of my dad on the charter boat Daddy’s Girl Charters on Monday 5/2, this was part on the annual trip to the bay with the local American Legion. Well the guys were nice enough to let me catch the first fish, after about an hour of trolling the captain and first mat start yelling fish on fish on, well after a very tough battle and dad standing on my shoes to keep me from being pulled overboard I brought in my first Trophy Season striper, a gorgeous 42” fish. Boy was I excited, now I look forward to putting my MD citation on the wall beside my NC citation for my 46” Red Drum from 2 years ago. Turned out mine even beat out Dads 38” and everyone else that day, Dad said he has been catching stripers for 30 years and has yet to catch a 40”, he said it was more fun seeing me catch it then him any day. Out of 39 anglers my dad was the only one that brought his son or daughter, I think more moms and dads should be like mine and take more kids hunting and fishing. If not in another generation hardly anyone will be enjoying the wonderful outdoors like my family!! I’ve included pictures of me with dad and Pop Pop’s fish as well, we had an awesome time on the bay with all 6 of us catching a fish!
