Region: Southern
Location: Potomac River
Yesterday was an interesting day on the Potomac with lots of action and multiple fish species. I caught a combination of Rockfish, Smallmouth, Blue cat, Shad, Walleye and Gar. River monsters are swimming around in the Potomac and they can peel drag like saltwater fish. Question for DNR, what kind of shad is that?
DNR Response: Smiley, you caught a quillback (carplike fish in sucker family), these are a resident species throughout the larger tidal waters of the bay region.
