Location: Local Farm Ponds
This past weekend, despite the temperature swings and the wind we hit some local farm ponds and had a huge variety of catches including two pig sized carp. One of the carp was citation size at 37 inches!
DNR Response: Hello Alan, looks like you guys hooked into a grass carp, grass carp are considered an invasive species. Nonnative species are considered invasive if they show a tremendous capacity for reproduction and distribution throughout its new home; and, also has a negative impact on environmental, economic, or public welfare priorities. Please do not move the carp to another body of water. Grass carp are detrimental to submerged aquatic vegetation.
