Hunting Creek has some very nice wild browns to offer if you take care to exercise stealth, and patiently casting to all of the pockets of water. While they will take some dries, the action this week was mainly below the surface. The smaller one struck violently at an Elk hair caddis, while the larger took a size 20 zebra midge. In one of the small plunge pools while reeling in an 8 inch brownie, it was aggressively chased by a brown that was easily 2.5X its size and who would clearly not be satisfied from the measly caloric value of a dry or a midge otherwise. Surprised to see that BHC can offer fish of that size and will make adjustments to my fly box to offer some meat in certain areas.
