Bass on the Bohemia!

Type: Nontidal
Region: Eastern
Location: Bohemia River

Bryant Anderson had been fishing plenty of times before. He has caught bream, perch, catfish, and trout; just about anything you can catch without having to cast the bait over and over. However, that just wasn't good enough for him. He practices and practiced in the backyard with a weighted float until he finally had it down. When he showdown his Daddy that all of his hard work had paid off, he was finally given the chance to go Bass fishing. Bryant and his dad put thir canoe into the Bohemia River north of Telegraph Road and the adventure began. He did really good! Got hung up a time or two, but let's face it... who doesn't? He made a perfect cast right next to a floating dock. His daddy told him that that spot should get him a fish. And it did! A baby little Largemouth Bass. Sure it was small, but exciting none the less. Bryant continued to fish determined to catch a "keeper". Well, his persistence paid off right before we were about to leave when he hooked onto something that felt like It weighed a million pounds! He thought it got off, but then got the surprise of a lifetime when the biggest fish he had ever seen jumped completely out of the water! His daddy scooped up the bass with a net and Bryant was officially "hooked" on bass fishing. His Mommy and Daddy are so proud of him for all the hard work practicing in the back yard, and persistence fishing all day not complaining or whining a bit and so happy that he was rewarded with Bass that he will remember for the rest of his life. Bryant is 6-1/2 years old and will start 1st grade this fall.
