The Dog Days of August Fishing

Type: Nontidal
Region: Central
Location: Carroll County Pond

It takes a real 'Pro" to have success in August. I decided to find the one shady spot on the back side of the pond figuring the temperature would be a few degrees cooler in that area. Maybe, just maybe some nice bass will be laying in wait. I decided to work my trusty yellow and brown crayfish. Throw it over the algae blooms and let it float down slowly. Real slow, since in this heat the fish will not be that active. Before you know it, Bam! Fish On! a nice bass on my ultra light spin caster. They sure feel like a Lunker on these rods. After catching a few more my first mate was taking my picture and he had left his rod in the water with the bait floating. There goes the rod heading for the pond. I reacted quickly and grabbed the rod and worked the fish in. He was a nice one jumping twice trying to shake the hook. Thus, the picture of me juggling 2 bass at the same time. All were released to get bigger for next time. I caught 8 and my first mate got 5. This is hard work in 95 degree weather. Until next time, set that hook!
