Type: Tidal
Region: Southern
Location: Potomac River, Indian Head
My friend wanted to try and catch a monster catfish so we headed out on Sunday afternoon to try. After laboriously catching some nice Shad for bait we set up near Indian Head and put 6 rods out. The tide was running out good and it was not long before one of the rods doubled over. After a 45-minute battle I boated the fish for my friend who was clearly exhausted. It measured 53 inches long with a 33 inch girth. We call these big blue cats Potomac Tuna. We also fished Saturday down river near Nanjemoy and caught white perch up to 12inches and tons of channel catfish and small stripers.
