Region: Southern
Location: Lower Patuxent River
Went crabbing on the Patuxent River near St. Leonard's Creek on Sat. morning on 8/13. Ended the morning with 4 dozen nice heavy crabs and 1 fish I have never seen in the Patuxent River. Caught a puffer fish of some kind in one of the traps, it was all puffed up when we pulled up the trap but by the time I got a picture it was not.
DNR: What kind of fish did I catch? We took the picture and let it go. DNR Response: You caught a Northern puffer fish, these puffers seasonally visit Maryland's lower portion of the Chesapeake Bay, they are more common along the Atlantic shore.
