Teachers here in Calvert County report back to school on Monday, August 22. So I grabbed a kayak and headed out on Lake Lariat this morning. I was paddling around the edge making casts with a small jig and w twin-tail trailer. Bites came pretty often and I was able to reel in about a dozen fish mixed between bluegill, small bass and a few redear sunfish. On one cast I hooked up with something that felt kind of heavy. As I got it into the kayak I realized that I may have a "trophy." The third redear that I caught was the largest I've ever seen at 12 inches. I took a couple of pictures, made sure the fish was healthy and released it. Tight lines.
