32 Pound Blue Catfish

Type: Tidal
Region: Southern
Location: Potomac River

On the afternoon of 8/23/2016, Elijah and I went fishing on the Potomac River in Nanjemoy, MD. We were bottom fishing with chunks of Atlantic menhaden when this blue catfish pulled my surf rod into the water. Luckily, I was able to run out into the water and save the rod. In the process of battling this catfish, it managed to run through our other two lines and created a huge tangled mess. Eventually, I untangled the lines enough to get this fish in. This blue catfish was 40.5 inches long and weighed 32 pounds. This blue cat was removed from the Potomac River and now exists as fillets in my refrigerator. This is now the biggest catfish that I have ever caught.
