River Monsters

Type: Nontidal
Region: Western (Frederick Co)
Location: Monocacy River

For the past month we have been fishing several stretches of the Monocacy River in central Maryland with success on smallmouths, sunfish, rock bass, channel catfish and carp. Although low and still warm, the river appears to have a healthy population of a variety of species. Small crankbaits and in-line spinners seem to be the best options at this time. Pictured are my friend Alvie with a 24 pound carp and son Matt with a big channel cat fish. The best smallie so far went 19 inches.
