Black and Blue in Ocean City

Type: Tidal
Region: Eastern
Location: Ocean City

The bluefish and black sea bass are biting off of Ocean City Maryland. I went on a long range fishing trip on the Morning Star headboat. After an almost 4 hour ride we arrived at our spot where we stayed the entire day. Fishing was good for thesea bass with many quality fish caught including one of about 3 lbs. I did not win the pool since there were some larger ones caught.

The only problem was the ravenous bluefish would take both clam baits before they hit bottom. Many anglers had bent rods and double headers of bluefish in the 2-4 lb range. Captain of the boat said these bluefish were ideal eating size and suggested a Mexican broiled salsa recipe. At any rate I kept two bluefish and will give the recipe a try.

The big chopper bluefish have yet to arrive but these smaller bluefish can be annoying or desirable. Not many sea bass where chopped in half by the bluefish but that will change when the big bluefish arrive. I caught my limit of black sea bass and I hope this good fishing continues well into December.
