My name is Melanie Wheeler I have been eeling for years to catch trotline bait. I have never seen an eel sooo beautiful. I caught this one of a kind eel on the patuxent river near Solomons Bridge. I use razor clams for eel bait. I am keeping the eel alive in my fish pond.
DNR's Reponse
Thank you Melanie for sending in the eel with the color variation, our eel expert was impressed to say the least. We have never seen this variation before though the life stage for this size eel is commonly called "yellow eel", may be this is why.
