Waldorf Retention Lakes are Wide Awake

Type: Nontidal
Region: Southern
Location: Waldorf

I have been fishing the various retention lakes in the Waldorf area for the last month and a half. Apparently there are some really nice fish in these little manmade areas. Who would have thought that so many quality fish lived in these small runoff areas. I have been averaging about 5 Largemouth Bass every day I fish. I have also been catching a few crappie and panfish in these as well. While the weather has been cold, the fish are certainly waking up. Attached are a few photos of various fish I caught during this time. Now that it is getting warmer I have noticed an increase in activity by the larger fish. I highly encourage folks to give these little areas a try as there are really a bunch of fish in each one I tried. The ones so far have been Post Office Lake, Wakefield Lake, Lambeth Hill Lake, St Pauls Lake, Hampshire Lake, the little lake by the MVA on industrial pkwy and the little lake by the VEIP facility. All of these are in Saint Charles (Waldorf) MD. I plan to fish every hole possible this spring to see just how many have fish in them.
