My wife and I fished Big Hunting Creek this evening in our jon boat. It was an outgoing tide and the bite was on. She got into some big fish which was a thrill to watch (I swear they're attracted to that pink rod!). Her last fish of the evening was a 6lb white catfish, a pound short of a state record! She was released to spawn out and grow bigger. There were some nice white perch over 10" mixed in too, which were also released.
The secret is to use fresh earthworms. Throw it right in the shallows with a split shot by grass with a small hook to catch a small white perch, about 4". Rip off one of the pelvic fins, attach a large hook, a light sinker, and a trailer hook and start counting down!
