There was some awesome shad action near Fletcher's Boathouse (Potomac River) today. I didn't count, but it was definitely a triple digit day. I caught a few using shad darts and a spinning rod, but the fly rod was the ticket. There was a two hour period where I caught a fish on every cast and some were monster sized (see photo). I also caught my first blue cat on the fly rod. I used the same fly the entire time -- a red headed chartreuse fly (pictured). The fish were shallow today so I never got snagged. I was counting down to 5 or 8 and stripping the line as fast as I could.
