Rain Won't Stop Them!
Type: Nontidal
Region: Central
Location: Gwynn Brook Pond
3 year old Amelia and 6 year old Evelyn wouldn't take no for an answer when the Gwynn Brook Rodeo was canceled. Donning their rain gear they showed off their fishing skills to Pop-Pop who made the trip down from PA to watch them compete in the rodeo. We had the pond to ourselves and the girls couldn't keep their rods in the water, the bluegills and sunfish were biting all afternoon. The weatherman might have scared the MSSA, but he didn't intimidate my two little fisherman :-) On a side note for parents. Gwynn Brook pond is a great spot for your little one's to learn to hook and and cast by themselves. My 3 year old was so excited that she didn't need any help here. The bank is elevated in most spots which makes it a bit easier for them to cast. The pond is loaded with panfish, so they won't have to wait too long for their bobber to start moving either. We used wax worms, and caught fish on almost every cast.
