Loch Raven Report

Type: Nontidal
Region: Central
Location: Loch Raven Reservoir

I fished Loch Raven this past weekend in between the rain showers. Despite the weather, the mixed bag fishing was excellent and fast paced. I caught and released largemouth bass, yellow perch, bluegill and this plump catfish. I'm not sure what the exact species was....yellow bullhead possibly? It's stomach was really full and it appeared to be full of eggs, so back it went after a photo. Interestingly this fox doesn't fear humans, and got unusually close to me and several other fisherman. I took the photo as it was walking away. Tight lines!

DNR Response: Great to hear that you had a good fishing day last weekend. My best guess is that you are correct, that fish is a yellow bullhead. I am looking at the white barbels and also the tail margin looks straight, not emarginate (inwardly notched) if it were a brown bullhead.
