Don't Know... Let Them Go.

Type: Tidal
Region: Southern
Location: Nan's Cove

Hello from southern Maryland. I thought I do have a little report of fishing from Nan's Cove. Recently when I've been getting to the cove I've been putting my minnow trap in the water as I load up my kayak. I usually get about a dozen to two dozen, what my grandfather called "bull minnows" (or mummichogs). Today I used them, as well as a small Beetlespin, and caught about 18 white perch just before high tide. On my way back to the launch I cast out one of the minnows and just pulled it behind the kayak as if I was trolling. I hooked up with something that had a little size to it. I reeled down and played for it 4 or 5 minutes I brought it in and found that I had caught a nice 23 inch rockfish. To be completely honest I didn't remember if the regulations said "greater than 24 inches or not" as I was on the kayak. So because I wasn't sure I let it go to swim and fight another day. Tight lines!
