I caught this rockfish at dawn Sunday morning ( Oct 22nd ) on a piece of cut spot at Ft Smallwood Park fishing pier. The rest of the day was slow. I caught a couple of decent white perch and tiny rockfish throughout the day until dusk when the bite picked up and started catching 12 to 16 inch rock. Cut spot is the way to go, I loaded my freezer a few weeks ago when the spot were in thick. I have tried night crawlers , bloodworms, shrimp, live minnows and clams with little success. Fresh peeler crab is hard to find, but they work well if you can find them.
