Gigantic Fallfish

Type: Nontidal
Region: Western
Location: Monocacy River tributary

I caught a gigantic 22-inch fallfish on November 6 from a tributary to the Monocacy River using a 1/16th oz hair jig with a plastic trailer. I had been doing well on smallmouth bass and then caught this fallfish, by far the largest I have ever seen. The current IGFA all-tackle record is a fish that weighs 3 pounds and 9 ounces, 19 inches long from the Susquehanna River in 2009. I am quite certain that this fish exceeded 4 pounds.

We'll never know the actual weight as I released the fish promptly after photos. Just glad to have caught a "world-class" fish of any species practically in my backyard.
