Taking Advantage of Trout Stocking

The 1.5 acre pond at Calvert Cliffs was stocked with 300 golden and rainbow trout over a two day period early this week. These trout are taking inline spinners and small spoons, and they are most aggressive with a yellow colored lure.

The trout are also hitting bead head nymphs if you are fly fishing. I caught a good number of trout with my fly rod. I only catch and release, so the fish I caught were put back in the pond, and still waiting for a dinner plate.

The pond is small and I�m betting the evenings this week and this weekend will become busy. So, if you can hit the pond early in the day on the weekdays you may have the pond to yourself or with just one or two other fishermen.
