Magothy River

Type: Tidal
Region: Central
Location: Magothy River

After 2 hours of searching we finally got into some yellow perch on the Magothy River. They were full of roe and waiting to spawn so we played catch and release. We had some fun! The biggest was 13.5 and second biggest, from little brother, was 13. His son was having a blast.

All were caught on minnows with bobbers and jig heads. We had to leave our usual home turf to find the fish.

We noticed when mud shad (gizzard shad) were breaking no perch were biting. If you didnt see shad the perch were around. Unfortunately it seems like mud shad (gizzard shad) are everywhere in the Magothy right now so finding perch has been challenging. Good luck to all this run!
