With the warm weather on Thursday, I wanted to wet a line for the first time this year. Its been a long winter. I went to the headwaters of the Chester River at Millington. The parking lot was quite full, but a short hike down the bank and I found an open area to cast my rig. A small foam torpedo bobber over a 1/8 ounce jig sporting a 1 Gulp Alive Minnow. The tide was beginning to come in. My first cast was met with a strike and I set the small hook on a feisty 6 White Perch. The action was slow and steady for an hour or so with a fish every 10 minutes, then with the tide coming hard it picked up. I caught 3 small Bluegills on tiny Yellow Perch and, I estimate, between 50 and 60 White Perch. The lions share of my fish were 5-7 but about a dozen were plumper and 8- 10. Most of the other anglers around me caught fish in the same size range, though I did see one caught of about a foot long.
