I went fishing two days this week at St Marys Lake.
On Tuesday I waded the banks and took one pickerel (not pictured here) and one largemouth bass, both on swim baits. The pickerel was caught in old lily pads and the largemouth bass was in fallen timber.
It was a fun day of fishing today too, 4/5/18. I went to St Marys Lake at 11:00 but winds were pushing 13-14 mph. I dont put my kayak in the water if the winds are above 13 mph. So, I went over to Newtown Neck State Park. When I threw a line in the Potomac, it was shallow there. There weren't any boats out on water either, which was weird. I also fished a flag pond there too and caught nada.
After that I decided to go back to St Marys Lake. By this time the wind had died down so I launched my kayak. There wasn't any action during the early afternoon (around 2 pm). I worked my way to the new lily pads in the way back of the lake but no pickerel today. The sun was high and water was cloudy, due to the earlier winds and shallow water. However, the Osprey and Bald Eagles were catching though!
At any rate, while working my way back to the dock, I took two small largemouth bass. I was using a square-bill hard bait over grass in about 4 to 5 of water. I also used a watermelon plastic worm on jig head in timber and 9 of water. Then the wind just stopped altogether. Weird.
