Shad are Running

Location: Fletcher's Boathouse in Washington DC

I just returned from fishing at Fletcher's Boathouse today (4/13) and caught about 25 shad, some of which are nice sized, on a pink shad dart. The action was sporadic though bites would come in 2's and 3's followed by inactivity for 15-20 minutes before the next bite. Man at the tackle shop said there are some American shad in the river at a secret spot. I fished just above the boathouse with many other anglers. Here is a photo of one of my bigger shad-not sure if it is a hickory or and american.
