Snakehead Catch in Wingate, MD

This past week I was in Wingate at my grandmother's for a fishing trip. On May 11 I came across a roughly 8" adolescent snakehead in her back yard pond.

On Saturday May 12, we were at Blackwater Refuge and a gentleman stopped to see how our day was going, and informed me another man had caught a large adult snakehead close to where we were fishing on the bridge (near Blackwater Pedal and Paddle Adventures).

I moved down roughly to the spot he mentioned. This business has a small inlet where the rent people kayaks to paddle out into the refuge. I cast my line at the very opening of a small inlet and as soon as the shaker touched the water, it exploded on the line. I pulled in a 22" adult snakehead directly where people are moving in and out on kayaks for this business. This made for 2 catches from that specific 15 foot area in about 3 hours.
