Shad Fishing is Slow, But Still Fun

American shad are still being caught at Fletchers Boat House in Washington, DC. However, the fishing is slow which could be due to the 95 degree heat. I only caught two in 3 hours of fishing, before being chased off the water by a bad lightning storm. The first shad I caught jumped twice clearing the water by about 2-3 feet each time which made for a fun fight. The second shad put up a stubborn underwater battle. Maybe fishing will improve. Some say that these American shad might stick around until mid June.
