Better Weather = More Fishing

Type: Nontidal and Tidal
Region: Southern
Location: Locations in Calvert and St Marys counties

The weather has improved some this week. So, I took advantage of the breaks from rain to take in some fishing in Calvert and St Marys counties. I was fishing where Back Creek and Mill Creek come together near Calvert Marina. I took 35 rockfish (4 keepers, 2-19 1-191/2 1-241/2) all caught on a skirted jig (1oz & 1/2) with 3 1/2 paddle tail plastic, white/perl some chartreuse in skirt.

I was taking a break from the rockfish when I fished for largemouth bass during the evening on Saturday and Wednesday. I caught 6 largemouth bass, 3 in a small pond (black buzz bait) and 3 from St Marys Lake (1/4oz jig with sexy Shad swim bait). I also took 7 white perch, caught at the same location as the rockfish but casting under the docks with light spinning tackle (beetle spin jig with white Mr Twister plastic).

As a bonus I caught 2 pickerel while at St Marys Lake (1/4oz jig with sexy Shad swim bait) and 1 yellow perch too, (1/4oz jig with sexy Shad swim bait).
