Chain Pickerel

Type: Nontidal
Region: Northern
Location: Loch Raven Reservoir

This is the first Pike ( Chain Pickerel ) that I have caught in Loch Raven, I have been here many time and have caught smaller pan fish such as bluegill and yellow perch but never a pike. I caught this on Saturday 5/14/11 around 5:00 pm, the weather was good though they had been calling for thundershowers all day. The day was overcast and was around 65-70 degrees with a slight wind. I was using a Swim Shad crank bait by Storm, It put up a good fight but I was able to land it in the boat. In all me and my friend had nine Pikes on our lines today, Though this is the only one we landed because the others had got of the hooks. This pike was 19 and a half inches long and if I had to guess it probably weighed about a pound to a pound and a half.
