Northern Pike on Deep Creek Lake

Violet Sisler and her mom Rebecca joined Neil Jacobs on his Carolina Skiff to enjoy a morning of fishing and boating on Deep Creek Lake on Sunday. We fished in about 10 foot of water along the submerged aquatic vegetation beds using golden shiners and night crawlers fished beneath a slip bobber. On the very first cast, they each reeled in a yellow perch using a piece of crawler. Violet then switched to a shiner and soon it became apparent she had a much larger fish on! She battled a nice northern pike measuring in at 20 inches - a quick photo and the fish was released. Rebecca also switched to the shiner, and soon after caught her first northern pike! Amazingly, Violet caught two more pike before heading out to enjoy a boat ride on Deep Creek Lake.
