Surprise Channel Catfish From the Severn

I caught this estimated 22 inch, 4 pound channel catfish by accident while targeting white perch at the Pines on the Severn Dock, Chase Creek, Severn River. The fish was hooked on light 6 pound test spinning gear with a live minnow. I did not have a landing net, and managed to beach the fish on the Pines boat ramp. This is the first channel catfish that I have caught in this location, and others have been reported in recent days. This influx of catfish may be related to the heavy rains, infux of freshwater, and high flooding waters.
