We finally had a chance to take a break from making fishing rigs to do a little fishing, boy we were glad we did! We left the Point lookout ramp around 1:00 pm and then checked all of our normal fishing spots but caught nothing. We didnt see much on the fish finder to give evidence of fish until we went across one location where the fish finder filled up with what appeared to be slashing gamefish. We jigged a bit and were able to pluck a few nice bluefish and some throwback rockfish. Although we didnt see any birds or fish breaking the surface, we decided to throw our castable umbrella rig which has a single long trailing hook and four teaser baits on the bait arms. Except for the bluefish biting off the tails, we caught and caught and caught and caught, until we lost the umbrella rig on a failed cast. After that we went back to jigging but it didn't compare to how many fish we caught on the umbrella rig so we called it quits for the day. Overall a nice day catching.
