Deep Creek Lake Fall Fishing

Type: Nontidal
Region: Western
Location: Deep Creek Lake

The fall turn-over in Deep Creek Lake has occurred and water temperatures are about 55 degrees Fahrenheit. We recently conducted the annual fish population survey and are results show that now is the time to fish Deep Creek Lake! Yellow perch are very abundant and the number of 12 to 15 inch fish in the sample was incredible. Likewise, the walleye are now in shallow, feeding along the edges of the aquatic vegetation beds, and we collected many walleye greater than 20 inches. Other exceptional specimens of fish we collected included largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, bluegills, black crappies, and a 27 inch chain pickerel. Pictured below is fisheries biologist Jason Cessna with some of the fish Deep Creek Lake has to offer anglers.
