17.4 lb. Tautog Caught in Ocean City!

Type: Ocean
Region: Eastern
Location: Ocean City

Traveling angler Kenneth Westerfeld, from Queens, NY, caught this massive 17.4 pound tautog yesterday on bottom structure (reefs/wrecks) off Ocean City. He was fishing with Captain Kane Bounds on the charter boat "Fish Bound". All of the anglers in Ken's group on the "Fish Bound" had a great day. The anglers caught a boat limit of tautog (including 6 over 10 pounds!). On the same day, angler Justin Eddy of Ellicott City caught a huge 6.8 pound sea bass (pictured) on an offshore wreck trip on the party boat "Angler".

Ken also caught the Maryland state record and IGFA world record 28.8 pound tog off OC back on 1/2/2015. The fish was caught while bottom fishing with crab bait, and it may be submitted for an IGFA line class record. Congrats to Ken on a great catch!
