I grabbed my fly rod on Sunday morning and went to Calvert Cliffs State Park to cast for some trout. I only caught one fish, but had another bite and saw a few others rise to the surface before I left due to the high winds and dropping temperatures.
The pond, located near two small parking lots, has easy access. With additional parking a short walk from the pond. There are still hold over rainbow and brown trout in the one acre pond from an earlier stocking by the Maryland DNR.
I caught the trout on a bead head nymph casting to the edge of the ice that was still present on the pond. The fish can also be caught on small inline spinners, power baits and red worms too, using light tackle.
