I was fishing near the Sparrows Point Pier on October 30th, 2018 when I landed a bunch of large catfish. Most were channel catfish (not pictured here), but I could not identify the other kind. Some people told me they were blue catfish while others called them "mudcats". After a bit of research I am wondering if the fish pictured here are in fact white catfish. They clearly have a much bigger head and stubbier body than the blue catfish I've caught in the Potomac River. What kind of catfish is this?
DNR REPLY: A state biologist has confirmed that this is indeed a white catfish.
