I fished St Marys Lake on Wednesday before the rain rolled in late in the day. I had a small window of opportunity so I took advantage of the low winds and sunny afternoon. In three hours of fishing, I was able to catch six largemouth bass and eight pickerel.
I caught all the fish at around four to five feet off the leeward side of points or laydowns. I found the fish by throwing a 4 paddle tail on a 1/4 oz jig. If I missed a fish I immediately threw a small square bill plug and sometimes ended up catching the fish.
I spoke to another fisherman and he stated that he had caught bass and pickerel as well in the same depth of water but at about twenty/thirty feet from the shoreline. He was fishing the main body of the lake while I was fishing the shoreline of a cove. He was throwing a grub.
