Capt. Chad Koenig of Dog Days Fishing caught this estimated 25 pound invasive blue catfish in the "rips" at the Calvert Cliffs power plant warm water discharge back in late March. The fish was caught while targeting striped bass with a lead head jig and plastic trailer. This is the second documented blue catfish in the Calvert Cliffs rips this year. This is another sign of lower than average salinity in the Bay, and also the expanding range of the blue catfish in the mainstem Bay. The Department encourages anglers to kill all blue catfish when captured. They are very good eating!
