Region:
Location:

Congrats to Gary Simpson for being the first winner of the new FishMaryland Milestone Angler Award! Gary qualified for the award by catching a 25.5 inch chain pickerel on 1/1/19, a 21.25 inch largemouth bass on 1/11/19, and a 13 inch white prech on 3/30/19. All fish were caught during the 2019 calendar year, and they met the minimum size requirements for each species. Gary will receive a certificate (see picture) and a yellow award sticker to mark this milestone event.

The department has established these new FishMaryland Milestone awards to recognize those skillful anglers who catch trophy sized fish of multiple species that meet a required minimum length. The milestone awards are the Angler Award for three different species meeting the minimum length, Expert Angler Award - for five different species, and Master Angler Award for 10 different species. Each milestone is marked with a certificate and a colored sticker in yellow, red, or black (dnr.maryland.gov/fisheries/Pages/FishMaryland.aspx) .

For more info on how to apply for the Fish Maryland Milestone awards see the step-by-step instructions at dnr.maryland.gov/fisheries/Pages/FishMaryland.aspx. Please remember that the fish has to be caught on or after January 1, 2019 AND must meet the official minimum sizes to qualify for a milestone award!

Tight lines and have a great 2019 fishing season!
